From One Mum To Another

From One Mum To Another

This is the more personal corner of The Little Journal—a place for the things motherhood doesn’t always say out loud. Stories, confessions, little victories and difficult days, shared by mums so another mum somewhere can read them and think, “Me too.”

TO THE MUM WHO NEEDED THIS TODAY

From one mum to another.

Maybe today you lost your patience over something tiny.

Someone wouldn’t eat. You were running late. The shoes disappeared. You raised your voice—and felt terrible about it five minutes later.

We’ve been there.

There are days when we love being mums more than anything in the world.

And days when we’d quite like ten minutes where nobody needs us.

We’re slowly learning not to feel guilty about both.

On the harder days, we’ve found our own little ways back.

A few deep breaths before answering.

A walk. A workout. A game of something. Anything that reminds us there’s still a person underneath the word Mum.

And perhaps the hardest one: saying yes when someone offers to help.

Yes, you can take him for an hour.

Yes, I’d love some help.

Yes, actually, I am tired.

We’re learning that we were never supposed to do all of this alone.

And maybe that’s why we wanted to write this.

Because somewhere, another mum is having exactly the day you are.

She lost her patience too.

She also ordered dinner tonight.

She also sometimes misses the woman she was before motherhood—and then misses her little boy the minute he falls asleep.

Maybe we just don’t say these things to each other enough.

So we want this little corner of Chotto to become somewhere we do.

Not a place for perfect mothers.

A place for real ones.

Tell us about the day you nearly lost it. The thing nobody warned you about. The little trick that gets you through. Or something another mum once told you that you’ve never forgotten.

Send us your note—one line or one page. Put your name on it, or don’t.

We’ll share some of them here, from one mum to another.

Because perhaps the nicest thing we can give each other isn’t advice.

It’s that tiny moment of relief when someone says:

“Me too.”

With love,
Two mums figuring it out too.

A little Chotto thought

Look after the person who looks after everyone.
